There is a gym just down the road from Tip Top. It is run by Destiny Church and they have a $5 casual rate between 11-3pm! Me and some of the girls at work are going to start working out there. We went to have a look today and it is really flash. It is opposite the big Destiny church which has a preschool, flash cafe and TV studio. Destiny must be doing something right, they went from 20 members in 1998 to over 800 in it's main Auckland congregation! Not bad growth really. Phase two of Project Paint House kicks into gear this Saturday pending fine weather. Feel free to come over and pick up a paint brush and put paint on the walls. There will be bacon and egg pie (thanks to Hamish's cool mum) and Frujus for lunch. I am busy at work and turning 24 next weeks. Yikes. Anita posted at 9:39 pm |

That would be the clown who tells newstalk zb he deserves to drive around in his flash new car because God wants to give him riches. Heard him saying that his congregation should give him the wage he gets because he deserves it.
Not my cuppa tea. Don't much like his theology either but I guess I'm fussy ;-)
(Yes I'm fault finding)

Yay! Go destiny church! It's good to hear someone mention their good points. You hear so much stuff about them, everyone seems to run them down.
Unfortunatly, numbers aren't everything...
e.g. 20 people effectively ministering to 20 people is good, but 800 people who were already christians coming to the same church and only minsitering to 40 people isn't good.
That said, 800 people ministering to 800 is good.
Enough Said. (or too much? meh)

Allan,
Are you saying a pastor doesn't deserve a wage?
Are you saying the leader of a fast-growing well-organised organisation shouldn't have decent wage?
I have much respect for Brian Tamaki - his tireless and zealous work for the kingdom of Christ puts me to shame.
As his fellow members in the body of Christ, how about we exact support, encouragement and love, instead of scorn, scepticism and exclusion.

I never said a pastor didn't deserve a wage. A decent wage even.
However based on what I have heard and read, and some of which was from his own mouth, Mr. Tamaki earns far more than a decent wage. And appears to think he has earned it from God.
That is what I take issue with. Not his person, not his preaching, just his attitude to money.
Ok, maybe a little of his preaching but I'd be kidding myself if I thought I was better ;-) As you say he does great things. I simply caution that Benny Hinn's sheep think the same of him. It's too easy to look only at their good works and ignore the rest.
