Well most people that know me know that I am not a fan of our car. It isn't very pretty and the ability or lack of to put your foot down and get somewhere quickly makes Auckland driving a wee bit scary. However it is amazing good on gas. We filled up last Monday (29th) and had a bit of a fit when it costs us $60. But it is now Tuesday the following week and have down 380kms and still have a bit more than quarter of a tank left! Nice one. Maybe I am starting to warm to our car just a bit.

Alana says:
Auckland should seriously invest in some trams, trains and buses.
Seriously.

Auckland has serious issues in the fact that it was seriously poorly planned, and so is a serious nightmare for anyone trying to design/provide any kind of seriously effective public transport system.
Seriously.

Didn't Connex take over the train system in Auckland? Hows that going?
Alana.

Well I took the train to the rugby at Eden park and into Britomart twice last week and it was great. But I know others haven't had great experiences.

to put it bluntly: NZ public transport (but particularly Aucks') SUX! no matter who runs it. and Lou's right - its more of a surprise if the trains are running on time!

I've heard Connex have lost public transport contracts in other countries becasue they're not so good. I have to say their scheduling and organisational skills are not their strong point.
