I was in Ponsonby today attending a focus group for work. Hamish picked me up and we grabbed a pizza at a local restaurant. We sat inside and outside by our window were two lesbians eating dinner. We decided to stop by Greenlane Foodtown on the way home for some milk etc and on our way out we walked past a gay couple, a guy about my age with his arm around a guy about my Dad’s age. We went home and watch my fave show The Apprentice and saw the Ministry of Health’s new ad. The ad showed two young teenage boys kissing and the voice over said ‘whoever you have sex with use a condom’.

Homosexuality is offensive and confusing for a lot of Christians. We love all people as Christ does but hate this sin that violates something so precious. While all sin is sin to God there is something in particular that troubles us about this sin. Peter Boyd prayed for our nation on Sunday. A nation that calls evil good and good evil.

Parliament will vote again on Thursday on the second reading on the Civil Unions Bill, yet another piece of legislation that is offends Christians to their very souls. I don’t mean to sound dramatic but to make it legal for women to sell their bodies for sex and gay couples to ‘marry’ is a shocker. While we all take this seriously we must look into our whole lives how we can become complacent about things that should offensive us. Queer Eye and Sex in the City are good examples of this. We can watch these shows and consider the we are agreeing to the fact that it is ok to sleep around outside of marriage and it is cool to be gay cause they are more fashionable. I don’t mean to sound pious – cause the reality is we are all the same- creatures of wrath just washed in blood that isn’t ours. Watch out - the World creeps in were you dont expect it too.

When you are in the supermarket or bookstore next take a look at the back of the Metro magazine. Now boys – THAT is how to wear facial hair.

My turn to be sick! First Hamish, then Alex and now me. I have had a bad cold and was off work for three and a half days last week. I am going back tomorrow. Still can't taste or smell anything much and generally feeling a little dodgy still. It has been kinda weird because colds don't normally hassle me so much and it has also been weird that both Hamish and Alex have been fairly sick themselves recently- it seemed like it was 'my turn'.

The really interesting thing however is not being able to taste or smell for about three days. I think I have found the cure for America's (and NZ's) obesity problem. One of those drug companies should make a pill that artificially simulates whatever caused my smelling and tasting senses to stop (something about sinus and the nose being blocked). I only ate boring but healthy stuff like porridge and toast and orange juice cause there was no point eating anything that tasted. It would make it real easy to resist hamburgers and lollies cause you would get no satisfaction from eating them!

Anyway that doesn't really deal with the issue or make changes to lifestyle so the weight won't go back on again but it is an interesting thought.

Also on the interesting front. I was looking for recipes online and came across a recipe for Candied Sweet Potatoes. It looks like Amercians make a dish for Thanksgiving with Kumara that used brown sugar and marshmallows!!! Very strange, I wonder what it tastes as *interesting* as it sounds.

Tomorrow is our 4th wedding anniversary. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. It has been an interesting 4 years I must say- God has taught me a thing or two. It has had it's ups and downs but on the whole we are great friends and I am very happy. May the fun continue.....Lord willing.

Alexandra has a blog- watch out world. http://alexandrasdiary.blogspot.com.

Must go -bedtime- home from work today with a head cold and want to be better by tomorrow so we can go out for dinner!!

I was thinking today that if you were to buy someone a box of chocolates to say thank you or happy birthday or something would it be rude to buy a cheap brand? Like budget or Signature Range or something. Would they think that you thought that they weren't worth the extra $1 or would they think 'it is the thought that counts'. Being a chocolate lover myself I would prefer a box of high quality Cadbury chocolates rather than the cheaper brands. Or am I just a chocolate snob?

Pizza that this. Yummy. There is a store in Manukau next to Burgerfuel. Their Pizzas are great if you don't have any issues with the theme of the join.

Also went to a great Cafe in Manukau called Euro Cafe, by the bus stop at the Mall. Got 3 slices of nice bacon, two eggs and two pieces of toast for $4.95. Their coffee was pretty good too. Nice clean tidy place with nice people running it.

Sometimes life isn't easy. 'Really no kidding' I hear you say. Sometimes I wonder what the point is in doing some of the stuff I do. I don't think anyone really cares anyway. I wish I was a better person and friend to people. I will work on that I think. I wish people would just be honest and say what they mean.

Hamish and I hung out out at the Boys Flat tonite. We had a jolly fun time. Top blokes at that flat I tell you. And lovely hosts.

Tonight was the last night of STEPS and I stood on my cat. I feel stink about both things really.

I placed a bet with a guy at work today- blame Scott -bad influence. Up for grabs is a shiny $1. The bet is that if he finds any errors in his cost centres caused by my team keying in an invoice wrong I have to give him a shiny $1. If there are no errors I get the dollar. As it stands he has found no errors yet and I have great faith in my team! Scott is a bad influence on me.

I will keep you posted.

Scott was on at me today about posting. Yawn. He said that I would lose my readership if I didn't blog.

I have been a bit busy of late. Alexandra is pretty sick at the mo with a weird stomach thing. But she is feeling better today!

I am looking forward to the weekend. On Friday there is going to be a fundraising Cafe for Louise at church and on Saturday we are having a BBQ at the boys flat. It is going to be the last nite of STEPS for the year! Yikes I can't believe how fast it is gone. STEPS has been cool this year. There are some rocking cool people that go to STEPS and I have felt that I have got to know them a bit better this year. Also three STEPS couples have gotten married this year and there has been one STEPS baby. Three weddings and a baby. Nice. I like weddings and babies. So if you are thinking of having one go right ahead.

Anyways I better sign off and make some dinner. What to cook what to cook. Any suggestions?

Hamish is pretty sick at the moment. He has Campylobacter. Campylobacter is a common disease in New Zealand and is an acute bowel infection that is caused by bacteria of the Campylobacter group multiplying in the small intestine. It’s main source -raw or undercooked poultry or meat, especially barbecued or fried chicken

He ate some very undercooked BBQ chicken on Friday night. And before you ask- as one very unsympathetic person did 'Why did he eat it?' He took a bite and swallowed before he looked at what he ate.

So BE CAREFUL when cooking and eating BBQ chicken children.

Well I have conceeded the election to Scott. He was right and Bush won. He did not win well as he predicted but he did win. So I will be buying Sushi for Scott in the near future!

To be honest it is a win lose situation. I did want Bush to win. And I guess I don't really mind buying a friend lunch.

Scott and I have a bet going. If Kerry wins the election he buys me lunch and if George W wins I buy him lunch.

I have already put in my order for Chicken and Avocado Sushi.
